Who Is This Chick?

I am an almost 33 year old with one almost 7 year old son. We’ve been trying to give him a sibling for 3 years seriously, and more than that not so seriously. We pulled out the big guns of IVF in July 2011, given that our IUI success rate was 8% tops, our chance of natural 3%…I got pregnant but it ended in early miscarriage on August 5th, one week after seeing one perfect heartbeat. Im trying to cope and haven’t gone back yet for more, and have no idea what’s in store. You may also read some posts regarding adoption, as husband and I are not opposed and would welcome any baby into our home, no matter how he (or she) gets here.

  1. I think you are already lucky to have your own son. I will never have that. Sometimes things aren’t meant to be for a reason but remember you are already blessed.

  2. I agree. I am lucky that somehow that miracle occurred for us 8 years ago. But that doesn’t make my pain any less. It’s not easy having a child asking you why you won’t give him a brother or why God puts babies in other people tummys and not yours. It’s not easy explaining a miscarriage. It’s not easy walking by the nursery that we have set up that has been empty for so many years. I am thankful every day for what I have. I love my son more than anything in the world. But those of us who suffer from secondary infertility are no less “worthy” of our pain.

  3. Yes you are worthy of your pain, I absolutely agree. Keep on trying and don’t let it define who you are. You have the tools so you’ll get there with the right help.

I have come to terms with never having my husbands child. I am on the list for sperm donation now – wish me luck!
